Car stalls after start

Every once in a while when I start my 97 the rpm's go up to about 1000 then drop to 0 and my car dies. This seemed to start happening when it got warmer out and the only way to keep it from dying is to rev it up or just start driving right away. Is it a vacuum leak or spark plugs or what?

I would check for vacuum leak first. How is the idle after it has ran awhile?

That's the problem..it will die and I will have to restart it. If I Rev it up a couple times to around 4,000 the idle will go back to 750 and idle correctly

It is kind of hard if it won't hold an idle. If it does hold and idle you can spray carb cleaner around. When it hits the leak it the idle will smooth out and soundhealthy. Or you could try feeling around and maybe get lucky and visually see it
