New to the forums!

This is my first post on here! New to the forums! Just got my first Mustang Its a 2004 3.9 V6, 4r70w transmission, 7.5 rear, Mach 460 sound system and it a 40th Anniversary edition. All black leather seats. Love this car. Its mostly stock. I recently replaced both front hub assemblies, rotors, pads. New u-joints a new set of tires. Just got a double din Pioneer FH-X721BT radio. Just waiting for the install kit to arrive. Already have all the wiring figured out. Here is what my plans are. Also have a few questions. I recently rebuilt a 302/5.0L engine for my 89 Bronco. Bored 30 over, forged pistons, planed the block, turned the crank, new cam, all new bearings, a basic rebuild. Nice engine. The machine shop put the rebuild kit together and I assembled it. They did all the machine work. Anyway I am wanting to swap this into the Mustang. I have other plans for the Bronco. Here is what I know I will need.

94-95 K-member and motor mounts.
94-95 gt compete wire harness including the gauge cluster and computer.
94-95 gt Upper and lower intake plenum (Factory or Aftermarket) with fuel rail and injectors.
94-95 gt MAF sensor
94-95 gt CAI
94-95 gt Throttle Body
New distributor
Coil and Wires
New headers and exhaust system.

What I am not sure about.

Would the fuel lines from my 3.9 line up and connect with the 94-95 fuel rails?

Would my stock 3.9 fuel sending assembly, high pressure pump and regulator work and feed enough pressure to my 5.0L and not starve it of fuel?

Could a tune help out with is?. I don't mind replacing all of these components with new upgrades. Just curious.

I also am not sure about the accessory brackets for the front of the motor? I'm pretty sure I will have to get those off of the 94-95 donor gt.

Here is another lengthy question I have/ possible answer pertaining to the 4R70W year difference speedo gear issue.
I plan on using my 4R70W transmission. Since I have the 3.9L/3.8L v6. The bell housing should bolt right up to the 5.0L and they also use the same 2 bolt or 3 bolt starter locations (cant remember off the top of my head) . Since its already in the car its one less thing for me to have to buy. Also from what I hear its quite sought after in the 5.0L performance world (from what I have read). So I'm keeping it. Since its an 04 I believe its the most upgraded one that came from the factory also ( don't quote me hear lol) in strength and durability. Anyway with it being newer than 02 or 03 I believe it does not use the mechanical speedometer gear to talk to the computer unlike 02 and older which do. They had a change from being gear driven to some other type of method of reading that info. I don't know what that is. Since I'm going to be using a 94-95 wire harness and computer. I'm going to need to find a donor car thats a 94-95 that has a 5.0L/AODE/4R70W. Take that harness and all the sensors off of that transmission and swap them to my 04 trans. Also take the output shaft from that (donor 94-95) transmission that has the gears machined onto it to work with speedo gears unlike the 03 and newer 4R70W's. Should be a direct replacement. If your still following me I really appreciate it! I will also take the output housing off of the donor car since it has the threaded whole for the speedsensor in it and install that onto my 2004 4R70W. I then should be able to connect that sensor to the wiring harness and the computer should tell the gauge cluster what it needs to know. I have also read that the sensors on the 94-95 AODE transmissions can be swapped onto the 4R70W since they are almost identical. I'm doing this so it will work with the older 94-95 harness I am swapping over. I also want to get an 8.8 out of a 99-04 GT and overhaul it plus install new gears. I'm sure I'm leaving some things out but this is what I have found so far. If you have any answers or advice that would be great. I know that most are going to say just by a 4.6 gt and call it done. Thats not what i'm wanting to do. I want a 5.0L new edge Mustang. I want something different and unique. I plan on over time collecting and purchasing all the parts and then doing the swap. I am very mechanically inclined. I work on all my own stuff. Thanks for any advice or answers. I caught the bug. These cars are so much fun!

Ken

Hey 2 quick questions? Where did you buy your fuel door? Also for the reverse glow gauges where did you buy them and on a scale of 1-10 how hard was installation?

Here you go!

Fuel Door. 1 super easy.

Gauge Cluster Overlays 3-4 Just follow the directions they give and you will be fine. Watch out when sliding the overlay onto the cluster face. I accidentally popped the fuel needle off. Had to be that one out of them all lol! I just left the whole cluster plugged in and hanging out of the dash with the clear plastic off. Started the car and placed the needle where it needed to go. Easy.

Fomoco4life,
Yes that's what I have figured. Not gonna scare me off. Going to collect the parts over time. Going to be very unique.

markerss232,
They are not factory. Had the same problems you said. Not enough interior lighting. These worked great! Plus they fade in and out with the music. Very cool. Lots of cool features. I got the 6pc kit. Not as bright as in the photos on the website but still plenty bright.

Well here is another option I'm looking into. Right now I can get an 1992 Thunderbird SuperCoupe 3.8 with a rebuilt 5spd M5R2. My question is would the 3.9 block work with the 3.8's Heads? I know the stroke is a little longer on the 3.9. Would that cause issues? My 3.9 has recently starting making a really loud lifter tap. Since the 3.8's heads are good I want to put the heads, intakes upper and lower, and the supercharger on. I would have a whole complete donor car. So I should have most the parts I would need hoses, inter cooler, pullys etc. Also does anyone know what type of rear axle came with this car. I think it's an 8.8 IRS with trak loc differential. I'm pretty sure that the rear end won't work but worth a shot lol. Anyway I can pick it up for $500 bucks. Would love to supercharge my car. What do you guys think?
