Motorcraft oil filter is best. K&N, Royal Purple, and Mobil1 make good filters.
Synthetic oil with your car's oil weight rating, as long as you have no oil leaks.
BITOG is a reliable place to get lab results on any oil or oil filter out there.

Best oil & oil filter

The best answer is this, new clean oil, proper weight, and a good quality filter. Everyone will tell you that one oils better than the other or one filter is better than the other. I've got Mobil 1 full syn. 5W-30 and a Pennzoil oil filter on mine. For my car I did some research on the oil filters K&N offers a 11-17 PSI bypass oil filter and wix is a 21 PSI bypass. In other words it's a safety feature. In terms of oil its personal preference really. I'm planning on upgrading to royal purple or amsoil, still haven't decided yet. A full synthetic oil will be healthier on your engine but it doesn't require it. I've been running Kendall full syn. 5W-30 in my truck (189,XXX miles), truck runs great. It likes the Kendall synthetic more than the conventional Pennzoil 5W-30 I used to run. Now if you upgrade to a full synthetic, keep putting the synthetic oil in it. It's not healthy for the engine to keep switching from full synthetic to conventional or vise versa.

In our new mustang, we just use the factory oil and filter. In my older vehicle which is a 70 Blazer, Wix filters and Mobile 1 oil.

If you have no leaks, then you use synthetic, Motorcraft smemi-synthetic is good, Mobil1 ES, Amsoil ,
Motorcraft oil filter is best. Mobil1, K&N make great filters too.
Go to BITOG web to research lab results regarding ALL oils and filters.
