T5 question

I bought a T5 trans on impulse and I cant remember what year gt the guy said it was out of so I did some research.

On the trans its says BorgWarner Automotive and there is a number under it 13-52-065 922. According to BritishV8.org that trans is out of a 84 Mustang/Capri 5.0 and the gear ratios are 1st 2.95 2nd 1.94 3rd 1.34 4th 1.00 5th 0.63. Those ratios match up to what Late Model Restoration says went into the 1984 Mustang LX and GT 5.0. I believe the gear ratios for my 2000 v6 are different so im assuming I bought a older version of the T5 than what came in my car.

So short version I think the T-5 is out of a 1984 5.0. Would I be able to swap it into my car (2000 3.8l) or would I be better off selling it and getting another one?

You can use it but you would have to change the input shaft. The lengths are not the same. The sn95 body puts the shifter back almost an inch more than the fox. That year transmission also doesn't have the updated blockers and is rated for less power. Honestly if you need it, run it. But it's probably worth it to find a newer same as your car junk years trans and sell this one.

Okay thank you that's what I thought and I'll probably sell it. I got it for $50 so I'll just get a newer one

T5 question

Give this a read. Sounds like you are reading the case part number. Look at the tag that is bolted on where the tail shaft and main case meet. The numbers will tell you what you need to know

50 bucks is a steal if works and even if it doesn't. I have 2 in my garage im rebuilding. I got both for 100 each, I thought that was good. But mine are post 1991, which is world class. And I am rebuilding them to the 93+spec
