AC compressor overcharged

My AC hasn't been working right since I got the car. I thought I would pick up a can of ac pro for $40 to see if it would fix my car. I noticed that my needle was already in the red, and that my ac compressor locks up and smokes (not the first time I've seen it locked up). After reading that an overcharged compressor will lock up, I'm wondering how I can relieve some of the pressure in my AC system or if I will have to take it somewhere? Thanks in advance

Take it somewhere or just release some by pressing in the needle where you put ac pro at till it gets to the right pressure won't take much to relieve enough pressure

It is technically illegal to release refrigerant into the atmosphere and bad for it as well. If you are a considerate air quality person, you would take it to a garage where they can remove the stuff safely, for little or no money. But only you will know what you decide. Just sayin...
