You could probably use a license plate fastener as you mentioned. Just make sure when wiring them, that they only get upper range signal from radio unit. Do not splice them in with any other speaker as they are not made for mid or lower range and will blow. Just a word of caution. In the mach system, the tweeters are powered by their own amp. The larger speakers are powered by their own amps. I guess I should ask, what system do you have? Good luck with your install

I have aftermarket amps pushing mids and highs. But I plan on using either powerbass or Memphis tweets in there. They have models that fit right in, no mods required. Do you have a clue what the max watts on the stock ones are anyway

Here is what the factory says about the system speakers:
Power Amplifier Section
Mach 460:
Ford Hi/Mid-Pass Amp - 2x60w = 120w Max. 2x30w = 60w Nom.
Ford Mid/Low-Pass Amp - 2x85w = 170w Max. 2x43.5w = 85w Nom.
230w / 13v = 17.7 amps Nom. 4 Ohms at 2% THD
460w / 13v = 35.4 amps Max. 4 Ohms at 2% THD
