Noise/whine

Hey hey,
Need some help, i have kind of a whine sound going on when the car is on. It gets louder when i turn the headlights on, stereo, and as i roll the windows up or down. Its not the power steering pump whine for sure. Cant seem to point out exactly where noise comes from, i can only here it inside the car. Anybody have any idea what it could be or whats causing it? I have a 99 v6
Thanks

natestang07 hit it right on the nose. Your alternator is doing the whining.
A whine from an alternator can be either
1) A bearing going gone bad.
2) The diodes going gone bad.
3) A bad/weak battery causing the alternator to work too hard all the time.
4) a poor connection between the alternator and battery causing the alternator to work too hard all the time.
Use a mechanics stethoscope to determine that the whine is coming from it. Then be prepared to change it out. Good luck.

usually a set of alt bearings will fix it real cheap. 1 hours worth of work and about $20 or new alt for around $250
