I would suggest a exhaust, air intake, and a tune seems to be the easiest way to make decent power

Splitport heads off a 99-04 and 99-04 intake or Windstar intake.

Well this I just me but for your car I'd do a JLT or K&N intake with a flowmaster cat back. Had one on my v6 2003 and God damn it sounded amazing so much better than my Ecoboost exhaust right now 😂😂. And as for your tune bama bro they seem to get awesome results not to mention great costumer service. Hope this helps!

The best things to do to these cars is an exhaust, gears, and a tune dont waste any time on other stuff bc you wont see much gains. If i owned it i would get some decent staggered rims, lower it, new lights, 4.10 gears, pypes offroad duel exhaust kit, maybe a bbk intake, and then a bama tune.

Unless you are willing to do the heads and intake like lowflyn suggested you are not going to see very much power. I'd do gears and a midpipe/catback, a tune and then work on suspension and cosmetics. Its still going to be slow tho...

To be blunt... do some cosmetics and creature comfort upgrades and drive it until you can afford a newer V8 or a 11+ V6.

I don't think splitport is the only way to make good power here. There's a list of mods that could be beneficial with the right supporting mods.

After its all said and done you will spend 7k and have less power than a bolton gt. Just save your money

Gears. Only bolt on you can do to a single port that will net you more perceived power.

Intake/exhaust/tune will average 3-5 HP on a good day. For the same (or less) you can get split port heads/intake from a junkyard and net 25-30 HP.

Gears will make the car feel much quicker, going from 2.73's to pretty much anything else will be a plus. Most bolt ons like CAI's, underdrive pulleys, coil packs, headers all that stuff doesn't net much if anything on the 3.8's. Just the way it is. If you want to throw on a cheap CAI and some exhaust for sound more power to you.

Best bang for your buck short of a 4.2 overhaul or FI would be the split port swap. This can be done in your garage for a couple hundred bucks tops.

Or if the car has sentimental value to you save up that cash and drop a PI 2v in.

4.2 with a windstar intake would be the best N/A build and the parts can all be found used and in junk/salvage yards.

99-03 windstar has everything on the top half you need(will need a different hood if you want to use the intake though)
a 96-98 winstar intake would fit under stock hood(still need the 99-03 windstar fuel rail)

I have a ported and powdercoated one. Car makes 210rwhp with cai, throttle body, coilpack, full pypes exhaust, and a ported lower intake manifold.
