2001 Convertible V6 to V8 conversion

Newbie poster here,
My brother and I are doing a engine and transmission conversion from V6 to V8. I have a 2001 V6 convertible and a parted out a 1999 GT coupe. I plan to post the experience on the forum but ran into a issue with the 1999 Hydroboost piston rod pedal length to the 2001 pedal assembly (too short it seems). Also I changed out the engine wiring harness and computer and the key assembly . I did not change out the dash and rear wiring harness I get a security error when trying to crank the car. The bad news is the doner car is no longer available to me. Any suggestions?

Turns out it was the passive auto security module under the dash. I can get that programmed also at a local auto service shop. Also the booster rod can be replaced but you need a slide hammer to remove it.

If you buy a tuner through Bama or another tuning company they can disable the PATS as well.

I would have thought the GT and V6 would both run the same hydroboost setup. You can rent a slide hammer from any auto parts store.

Only cost $150 to get both keys reprogrammed still looking into why the break pedal is lower than the gas pedal but have not yet cranked up the engine to build fluid pressure.

Yes it's a rear end from the GT donor car and hydro booster replacing vac assist for V6. All brake lines bled and just not enough distance travel to floor. Also ran the engine for 10 minutes pumped up the steering fluid pressure. You can feel the brakes attempting to work but just not enough to engage the pads.

Did you bleed the master cylinder at all? I would try doing that if you haven't.

I had the same exact problem with my swap, I had the PATS system lock me out because I only had one key (which was actually with the GT and GT ignition). I just had to have another key with the chip in it. Anyway I also took my car to Ford for them to bleed my brakes because when I looked up how to bleed brakes on a hydroboost car, they said it needed to be done by a fancy machine. When I took it to Ford they hooked it up on this doo hicky and still could not get a solid pedal, I kept asking them before I said quits with Ford, to bleed the master cylinder by hand. Finally as soon as he cracked open the bleeder on the master cylinder closest to the firewall, there was instant pedal. I had to pay $260 that trip for a key and to basically bleed my own brakes in their garage. So I would defiantly try the master cylinder! Also, I just posted my write up of my swap, check it out!

Sure enough the pedal assembly for the v6 vacuum assist is at a different angle for the push arm than the GT. Ordered a V8 brake pedal assembly from EBay.

Now I know what the bolt holes are for LOL. That one extra stud made install a breeze. I have full breaks now. Next is the cosmetics interior and then exterior -oh boy!
