Knocking from engine NEED HELP

Hi, I'm new to this forum so let me start by saying hello. I have a 1995 mustang base, 3.8 v6. Manual trans. I have a weird knocking coming from mid- lower engine drivers side. Knocking started a few days ago only between 2000 up rpms under load only. Now I can hear it slightly (I mean very slightly) At idle. But if you give it a little gas you can hear it better. So today I began removing plug wires to see if it would go away. It did not go away on any plug wires but did get louder when I unplugged furthest plug on drivers side. I have never had this happen before, does anybody know what this means? I am at a loss. Any help is appreciated. Thank you in advance.

That sounds like engine knock from a sound rod bearing or a bent rod based on your description.

Is there any way to verify that without tearing the engine apart? Or pulling the oil pan that you know of?

I honestly do not have, I've never had to deal with it.

Thanks I'm currently trying to trade my bike for a car to drive while I pull the engine. I'll post on here if I figure anything out.

Best way to check will be to disassemble the engine and see physically most than like like a rod bearing or piston broke. It happened to my car and it had to get fixed. Go to a shop to get it checked. Hopefully it wasnt your low oil that caused this. Goodluck man

Well it seems to me most people on this sight (Not All) usually give you the worst case scenario when it comes to car problems. I wouldn't tear that motor apart just yet. This could be something as easy as a Bad Vacuum Hose or Harmonic Balancer causing your problem. Highly doubt it's a Rod or Piston unless you were running your car a couple quarts low on oil or you've been racing the heck out of it & using nitrous on those Hyper tech pistons which aren't nearly as strong as Forged Pistons.
If you smoke pull the Vacuum Line off your Master Cylinder for your brakes & blow a lot of smoke through it. If there's a leak you'll see the smoke come out where the leak is. Also, Look at the very bottom pulley on the front of your motor. If the Rubber ring in the pulley is coming out at all you probably have a bad Harmonic Balancer. You'll also see the motor kind of moving weird instead of nice & smooth.
Before I did any of this though I would buy a bottle of Sea Foam & put 1/2 in my gas tank & 1/2 in my oil to see if it helps. Maybe an injector is clogging up & not getting enough gas to that cylinder. After you check those things if it still has the problem pull the valve covers off & check for loose Rockers & bad springs. Loose Rocker not so bad....Broken Spring may or may not be a sign of a worse internal engine problem.
With that being said, I wouldn't tear that motor down till you know for sure the problem is internal.
