Main 12v outlet not working

The 12v/cigarette lighter near my gear selector randomly stopped working while the one in my center console still works. Does this mean the fuse isn't blown and I need to replace my 12v? I've made sure it's plugged in before anyone asks. Thanks in advance

if it's random I would look at the plug have you tried plugging in another item? Maybe the plug is a bit loose.

by random sometimes it works or did it completely die?

The 12v has always worked until one day when I was using it to run a 12v air compressor and it suddenly shut off. Nothing works in it anymore but my 12v in the center console still runs the air pump fine.

Maybe you did, but you should always start your car before using your air pump--it draws a lot of amps and if the voltage is low, the amperage goes up (simple physics), which causes high heat. You might have burned a wire.

Thanks for the tip, I'll have to trace my wire and make sure it's not burned. As for a separate fuse, do the outlets not share the same fuse? If not this would probably be the source to my problem.
