Custom cams?

Within the next few months I want to get a Super Six Motorsports top end kit to go with a 75shot and tune. However they only seem to offer regrinds or heavy lope cams. Id like to get something milder and more streetable. Does anyone know where I may find one? Or would the heavy cam be streetable for DD?

Re: Custom cams?

would it be ok for stock heads/internals until I get the top end kit? I just dont wanna go bending valves or smashing pistons. I hear these are a PITA to swap, is it really that difficult or are these guys just bein wimps cuz the accesories gotta come off?

Like the Man said it will work I'd wait to install everything at one time gaskets kit ain't cheap

Here'a link while it doesn't show how to install a cam It has enough info on V6 tear downs to give ya a idea

Re: Custom cams?

Not much. In general, stock cams are pretty well suited for the flow of the stock heads and intake. A cam is pretty much a waste of time and money until you have an increase in air flow to make use of it. Your money is better spent elsewhere.

Here's a great article from another custom cam grinder, Buddy Rawls:

Cam Truth

Going with the biggest cam you can run is definitely not the way to do it. Also, any time you change a cam you should check piston to valve clearance. Every engine is different and a cam that may not cause any problems on one could on another.

Re: Custom cams?

realistically about 10-15rwhp with everything stock... It would be beneficial to at least have ported intakes.

Re: Custom cams?

yea a custom cam with stock parts might get 10-15 hp with a tune.

with the top end parts it would realy wake your car up like 60hp with all the parts that work well together.
