Mac Exhaust

Alright i was thinking about the mac exhaust true dual kit w/o cats from extreme effects. Could i take the mufflers off and replace them with flowmasters or are the mac mufflers great sounding. i know this sounds stupid but i just want to make sure.

Mac Flowpaths are very good sounding mufflers imo. But if you didnt like them you could take the macs off and put flowmasters on there after you got it hooked up

depends. I personally are not going to be getting cats whenever I get a new v6

but if you have concerns over emission testing then get cats

unless you are going high HP just leave the cat alone

MIL Eliminators stop the computer from bugging out when they notice the cats aren't there.

94-98 cars sound ricey as hell 99+ not as ricy due to the more restricted exhaust and lower lift cam

I'm starting to like that sound. Ever since I heard that Viper on PHRTV, it's all been good.

First time I heard Flowmaster, 1973 Mach 1 Mustang 351W Automatic. Nothin to describe it.

94-98's dont sound ricey.

The sound mean to me. a nice lopey agressive cam. To me they have a better growl than 99+

and my flowmasters dont get ricey whatsoever at 3k+

Also a 94 gt came intoday with flows.

oh my god. a 5.0 with flows just kicks ***.

But like I said before. Dont listen to me, dont listen to anyone who posted here.

NO ONE can tell YOU what sounds good.

you may like flowmasters, borla, mac, bassani, spintech, ect or you may not, you may like rice rocket fart cannons. Everyones different, the best way is to get out there go to a mustang meet, just listen to some cars with different exhausts. Even if you hear that muffler on a v8, it will have that distintive muffler hum (tone) so you can figure out what you feel is the best.

I've heard Mac, Flowmaster, Borla <-- (actually hated it) , Spintech and dynomax

and the best ones were Flows, and Spintechs.

i actually hated the sound of borlas. for such a expensive muffler i was not impressed. Sounded like a pack of bee's

If you get it down to 500RPMs, it'll lope.

You dont know what your talking about.
Their basically the same. The cam is differnet, and the headers.

There isnt much of a difference, i've been to many meets, and heard many. 94-98's arent ricey any more than a 99+

I had flows on my car and in three days took them off at 2200 rpm they started to drone all the way to 3000. so much in fact a Airforce Capt I took to lunch asked me why my car was making the god awful pulsating noise and the next day he did not want to ride in my car . And before you say anything he has a 64 Corvette with side pipes. Drone sounds like *** nothing aggressive about it. Please dont compare 5.0 or 4.6 cars with flows as a reason to get them on a 3.8

But in saying that to each his own!!! Goodluck

Actually the Cam, Shape of the exhaust ports and the headers are the tuning part of the exhaust sound and have a great effect on the sound, more than you realize. Mufflers tune the sound even more and with Chambered or baffled mufflers actually manilupating sound waves by deflecting sound pulses off the baffles acting like drums giving you a deeper sound as well as slowing down the pulses. which in turns increases back pressure or restriction when compared to a flow thru design muffler. This slowing down of pulses give you the drone effect

You could spend 10,000 dollars on a exhaust system and people would tell you it sucks.

Just get what u want and like. Some people like loud, some dont, some like this some dont..
Man u shoulda heard my car with flows and Dumps. It sounded bad *** and loud, i loved it.

Back when I was in high school they used to say kids would take a spark plug wire off to make their cars lope, I wouldn't advise it. haha.

Yes people would take off a Spark plug wire off one cylinder. On a V8 it will not be as noticeable on a V6 very noticeable and a 4 cylinder it might not start or run really bad. conventional wisdom tells you on the the average car produces around 30 hp per cylinder in a V8 that is 240 take away 30 not so noticeable in a V6 that is 180 take away 30 somewhat noticeable in a 4 cylinder it is 120 take 30 you have 90 big difference.

People in the 60's and 70's did some quirky stuff but nothing compared to the Ghetto Rice guys

I love my flows but im up in the air as to what mufflers ill put on when I get longtubes and re-do the exhaust(no clue when this will happen but it will).

Im liking the magnaflow's and maybe mac flowpaths. My 6 sounds mean as hell with flowmasters. I dont mind the drone when cruising. And when I am in higher RPM's it sounds MEAN. Just as Keith(flamingpony on V6P) and he'll tell you how nice it sounds
