Shorty or Long Tube Headers?

I have a 2003 V6 Mustang and I was just wonder on what would be better to get. Should I get some Long tube headers or shorty headers? Which will give me better performance?

long tubes are better for performance, and they give your exhaust note a little more umph. but if you're planning on turbo charging i believe you have to use shorties

Depending on your total combo, emissions requirements and local laws,
and budget, this is a complex question. Where do you live, and what are
the emisions laws there?

What is your intended combo when it is all done?
For many people, shorties are just fine and with
certain exhaust setups, actually better. But as
a general rule, LT's will make the most torque.

headers do nothing for a stock V6. there have actually been certain dynos that have shown losses in power. if you are going to get shorties then you have to have a lot of mods already in order to take advantage of them.

it all depends on what your setup is gonna be though. its tough to say right now without details.

Well right now I have UNDERDRIVE PULLEYS, FLOWMASTER DUAL EXHAUST, MAC COLD AIR INTAKE. I am planning to get headers but I want to know wich one (shorty or long tube headers) will give me the best performance.

Well what engine mods do you plan to get in the future. If you are not doning engine mods dont waste your money. If you do plan to do engine mods just get long tubes. You would probably see little to no difference between short tubes and stock!!!

Not trying to tell you what to do, but a set of 3.73s or 4.10s and a t-lock will do you a lot more good there.

I plan on doing more mods to my car. I have about $700 to spend an im just trying to figure out on what to by for my baby (my car)

Depends on whether you are 5speed or automatic. 5speeds usually go with 3.73s, autos with 4.10s.

Yes, I got that, I was trying to think who else might be who could recommend a good installer to put in gears for you. Actually I think www.differentials.com might be in your vicinity and they do installation too.

Nope, the Long tubes are not carb certified, but it depends on who does the inspection.
