Serious quick questions for the experts!!!!

Ok i have been wondering what the rating is on the stock transmission of a 1998 V6 mustang? C4?
And would it be able to handle added HP, say about 50-60?

It will hold 50-60 more hp without issue. It's not super strong, but it will hold around 300 or so at least if I remember right. I'm not an expert on autos nor V6s for that matter though. but, your goal of 50-60 increase won't be an issue unless it is already bad.

Re: Serious quick questions for the experts!!!!

I dont believe its bad, the car has only 49,500 miles on it....for a 98 thats pretty dam good, so i would assume the transmission is just fine?
So your tellin me that even if 100HP and 65 Lbs of torque was added, the standard transmission should handle it without issue?
Bringing the car to a total of
250 HP
280 lbs of torque

Ford designs Mustangs knowing that they are "the most personalized vehicle in the United States". Go ahead and tap into that potential your car has waiting for you. If you add way too much power and somehow break something . . . it is God's way of telling you to upgrade that part as well

It also has the same trans in the GT as the V6, so, the power numbers you are talking are just bringing your 6 up to the V8 levels...you're fine.

Re: Serious quick questions for the experts!!!!

Its an AOD-E transmission not a C4 and is just about identical to the GT version up until when ever they went to a diff one( not sure on exact year) it will hold the increase you want without any issues (unless its currently having issues, even those you may not know of) if you have taken care of it, changed its fluid yearly, etc should be fine (get a bigger tranny cooler for safety if you want)
