I've noticed that everyone that talks about this problem limits it to the 99-00 cars. Does this mean this is not a known problem with the 01+'s? I haven't checked very thoroughly, but I have noticed some oil on the top of the PCV valve, which would lead me to believe that there is oil getting past the valve... how much? I don't know. I changed the plugs before I read about this problem, so I didn't inspect 3 & 6 plugs more closely than others. What inspection I did do, however, didn't result in anything grabbing my attention as a potential problem.

Has anyone looked at the '01+'s to see if this problem carried over?

Since the fix is to use a 2001 valve cover, I'd imagine the 2001's are all ok.

i'll talk to my father-in-law who's an "engineer-of-some-sort-or-something-or-other" (his words, not mine) at Ford and find out what he knows if anything and post his findings (if, indeed he finds something).
