The do's and don'ts of Lowering

The do's and don’ts of Lowering.

I am looking at lowering springs. What do I need to know before I buy? I want about a 1.25 to 1.5 drop. Do I need to replace shocks? Do I need the adjustment plates?

These are cheap, are they junk?

I'd probably go with either eibach springs (pro-kit) or H&R's. They may cost more, but have much better quality and are backed by a warranty.

If you have a deep pocket, you could get shocks, struts, and camber plates since your already tearing that area apart. If so, I'd go with the Bullitt handling kit, it won't lower the car as much, but it includes everything for around $500.

As sonicpony03 said either eibach or H&R's. You dont need cc plates but they are good to have. Shocks and struts its kinda up to you. But as said above if its all apart might as well replace it.

lol yeah.... that was a helluva trip.

Don't lower your car that much... you will trap things under it.

brands
H&R
Eibach
Ford Racing

those are the main ones that are good quality. Go with a 1.5 drop ~ but once you get near or right at that level you will start to scrape things~ just part of it...

you will need CC plates, dont cheap out on these. Maximum motorsports 4 bolt plates are very good, there are others that do the job~ up to you to research and see what fits your application best.

You dont need shocks/struts when going up to a stiffer spring, the spring will out load the shocks/struts putting less wear/tear on them. The issue is the strut/shock shaft will be pushed into the housing more now that its lower~ thats were issues come from. I know the MM cc plates have shims to raise the shaft up so it is at a stock level~ or closer to it. Other CC plates may not do this.
