Looking for the next step in PERFORMANCE

Got an 01 V6 with just some bolt ons: CAI, HELIX intake spacer, UD pullies, wires, and dual flowmasters. What else can I do without breaking into big money?

Re: Looking for the next step in PERFORMANCE

What transmission are you running?

You have a decent start...some of the parts are doing you no good however.

I'd recommend taking a look at this thread:

http://www.mustangevolution.com/forum/t5654/

In there is advice from people who have been in the V6 community alot longer than you and I. I had one for several years and by following the guidance in that thread I had much more enjoyment out of the car.

Gears always help.

Re: Looking for the next step in PERFORMANCE

ive not seen a spacer do much of anything on those cars, I wouldnt spend money on that mod. Rear end gears would be GREAT. If you have an auto you need a shift kit/tune

Re: Looking for the next step in PERFORMANCE

its a manual and i was thinking of going t-loc for better traction and 3.73 gears.

Re: Looking for the next step in PERFORMANCE

If its a manual I would def look into a shifter and the gears/tlok like you said.

I would say spacers are junk unless you get an intake manifold spacer.. I dont see how a throttlebody spacer would do much. And if they did do anything it cant be much.

I dunno what your definition is of "big money" but you could always get a ported upper/lower intake set and maybe get the thing dyno tuned(not mail order). Id say there is plenty you could do. Suspension..rims...dunno its all in your interests.

Re: Looking for the next step in PERFORMANCE

well i am Eibach lowered and i have the GT rims and I was talking to this guy about porting upper and lower but he said it would only be about 10hp. he said that the real power wouldnt come till you ported the heads??? idk if that is true maybe i can get some other opinions?

Re: Looking for the next step in PERFORMANCE

3.73s vs the stock 3.27s is good for about 2.5 tenths in the quarter~ traction will help of course with a tlok to improve those times a bit more

Re: Looking for the next step in PERFORMANCE

heads, cam and intakes would give you some great gains... but little pricey. Gears are probably the best bang for the buck.
