Bought me a B&M Shift Kit

It will work for my 96 correct? lol

How hard is one of these to install. I think Brandon(SpectorV) has installed one on his previous Mustang so maybe he can help me with it. What are all the steps? I really want to do this myself as I have a Dig Camera now and want to maeka write up on it.

you have to pull the tranny pan, drop the valve body, change some springs, and hte accumulator (sp?), drill some holes in the seperator plate, etc...etc, the instructions will explain it better

Brent, be careful, be clean, make sure you clean all drill cuttings off there good before you put it back together, follow instructions closely, change the filter in your transmission while you have the valve body out and replace all the fluid you can drain.

dude, its worth the perfect install... dont mess around when it comes to things that you dont have experience with. Installing a valve body shift kit for the first time is probably not the smartest thing... just my opinion.

You can get a tranny cooler and the shift kit installed for $ 125 at a good tranny shop. That includes the cooler.

Dude I am not suggesting you are not mechanically inclined or anything but unless you have a lift to be able to work with little trouble, doing tranny work on your back under the car sucks big time. I have been doing all levels of car work for 20+ years and I would not do a Valvebody change on my back with little or no room to work. Maybe you know someone with a car lift!!!!

I paid a friend of my brother $100 bucks to put my B&M kit in, he charged me more than that to do the transgo kit in my v6, forget how much it was, but he does not like the transgo kit. Same here, if I had a lift and all I would have tried it myself, I helped a guy do one in school, its not that big a deal, we did an upgrade/rebuild on a crysler 727 actually plus the shift kit at the same time. If you have a lift and the right equipment its not bad, if you don't, oh well, hehe. I made an
"A" on automatic transmissions class. Learned enough to know better than to try stuff like that, I did do both my own tranny coolers, they too were a PIA.

its easy to install just takes a little time and reading teh directions lol I can get a friend of mine that is a really good ford tech soon to be one of 7 top qualified techs in alabama. He will charge 100~ but its well worth it cuz he knows what he is doing. I could do it but its much better to let such things be in the hands of a trained pro. also its a good time to flush all the tranny fluid out and replace it with which ever you like since mine took 10 quarts.... its nearly a complete flush.

he will probably put both in for around 100~ and he is good, the tranny is not something you want to screw around with, if you mess it up look at the repair bill.... or replace the tranny bill.... consider what you pay a little insurance to make sure its done right, i know i could do it but i do not have enough practice to say i would do it perfectly. Just let some shop or my friend help you out you can help no doubt he wont care just consider him there to keep you from screwing up

Jezz guys it has step by step instructions. How will you ever learn if you dont jump in and do it! Its very simple and laying on your back while tranny fluid drips in your face and eyes is what modding is about. Modern lifts and such has ruined the hot rodder.
Brent jack that puppy up and put some jackstands under it. Follow the instructions and make sure every part is surgicially clean and you will be fine. Just think of the satisfaction of being able to chirp second gear and say I did that myself

Now if you got your tools from the dollar store and cant read well and follow instructions you dont need the mod anyways LOL..

J/K but seriously doing the work yourself is the fun part!

Tranny cooler install is a piece of cake.

The valvebody would not be bad IF you can get the car up high enough so you can easily work under it.

yea its realy not a bad install, its just tedious (spelling?) because you got alot of little things you have to remember, check balls and what not and if you screw up something it could be VERY costly lol
