Re: cutting springs?

The pro's, it is cheap to do...the cons, you have progressive springs so you will ruin them. You can't cut progressive rate springs, only linear. You have to buy new ones...

Re: cutting springs?

^^^ Not always...I cut my stock springs, however mine are linear. That $250 I saved went to a much better use.

However, the GT's and V6's have progressive springs, so they can't be cut.

Re: cutting springs?

true it depends on what your trying to cut corners on... take an intake.... you spend the 50 on the make your own kit at autozone.... and the pipe keeps coming off the damn throttle body causing your engine to f* up. (my durango). buying a fuel pump and not putting the O-ring on trying to save time to get driving again.. (my truck) lol cutting corners has been bad for me... yes i know im not very mechanically inclined

Roush Springs for a 100 bucks....can't beat that price!

Re: cutting springs?

cutting a little bit (correctly) is fine but cutting to much is bad. When you cut them do NOT use a torch, use a cut off wheel. Cut the top from the bottom and the rear from the top. If you cut the rear from the bottom you ruin them.

Re: cutting springs?

Look into Ford C springs. If you have a conv cut .5 off the rear and 1 off the front. If you have a coupe cut .75 off the rear and 1 off the front, get c/c plates, drive and enjoy until you need struts/shocks...then get Tokico Bullits.

Or just buy the bullit kit and mm c/c plates.

Re: cutting springs?

Depends on how much drop you want....

I'd say anything approaching 1.5 inches and you'll need c/c plates.

If you're under 1.5 and looking for something closer to 1" drop on the front you can simply elongate the stock holes and give yourself a little more adjustment in the stock camber plates. I wouldn't recommend making a very big adjustment using this method, but if it's just slightly out it will work fine.
