7.5" rear from a 96 fit a Fox Chassis that had a 8.8

Will a 7.5" ( the one in my 96 V6) work on a fox body that originally had a 8.8 in it?

yes. if it is set up for 4 lug drum brakes, you'll have to swap axles

you should be able to pop the cover, remove the carrier pin, remove teh c clip slide out the axles and dothe same with teh other slide in the new axles put the clips back in with the carrier then put new lube in it and be done, just wanted to make sure the axles are not to long or to short or anything odd like that.
