DUAL CUTOUTS! mileage problem...

Ok, I have an 08 4.0, I got two cutouts installed, one on each side, so it's like running true duals with no mufflers right now. It's sounds so amazingly throaty and loud that I never cap them. The only strange thing is that my fuel efficiency seems to have gone way down. My only other mod is the S&B cold air intake.

My question is, will a tune bring my mileage back? Does anyone else have a similar setup with a similar problem?

P.S. anyone considering this mod, DO IT! It's was 125 bucks for both cutouts AND installation! It's louder AND throatier than the GT, a LOT louder and throatier.

No, your lost of mileage is due to a loss of back pressure. Scavaging has gone to hell with no restriction in the exhaust.

I'm guessing that the cutouts are installed before the Y....so there is no pressure equalization going on between banks 1 and 2 as well.

With that setup, your mileage has taken a permanant vacation....a tune is not going to do much of anything for you.

Thanks, I guess loudness and performance are not going to happen at the same time maybe a procharger would balance the equation...

is there any prep work needed for the SC on a 6? Or can you just bolt it on and smoke every stock GT without blowing a piston ring or head gasket...? lol

yah basically you can just go kick some gt ass lol

the only thing i had done at the time was a true duel exhaust system. i was told that it did help. But you can add the supercharger by procharger with the intercooler without doing anything else if you want, no problem.

only thing extra you might have to buy is better spark plugs. but even the fuel injectors come with it.

go for it. you have no idea how embrassed so many gt owners get when you blow them away lol

i still remember when i first supercharged my pony and me and the mrs took a trip to atlantic city. i met up with a white gt on the highway. he had just bought it cause he still had the stickers on. he looked at me to his left, smircked, i looked at him to my right, smiled and then gooooooooddd bye! lol he was so dam frustrated. that was fun lol

get a vid up, ive yet to hear an even fire motor (I assume the 4.0 is even fire and if it is no equalization needed) that sounded good... I mean not horrible but actually good.

will do! I'll do a before and after with just the single flowmaster 40 and then the cutouts. I'll try to get one up this coming wednesday.

Here's the vid (sorry it's so late!) The volume does it no justice, you have to hear it in person to get the full effect of course... in person it makes the flowmaster on the same car seem like the stock muffler. When I hit it hard in the video I let it get up to 5500 RPM.
