i just want something i will never have to worry about. the 7.5 is so crappy and can hardly hold anything. this is the third time i am having a problem with mine and i just want to swap in an 8.8 and be done with it. whether i do an engine swap in my car or just get a gt, i want to have a built rear end for it that can handle all the power i can throw at it. any idea where to get one from?

they have a few places if you google it, where you can piece one togehter, i understand upgrading but a stock gt locker with 31 splines will be plenty for what you wanna do.just use a 2005 gt chunk and put 31 spline axles in it, what proolems are you having with the rearend?

It grinds horribly. We changed his rear brake pads as they were pretty low anyhow thinking it could be them grinding on the back side.

However, it still grinds pretty good on the driver side.

That was what I had estimated it was after we changed the pads and rotors.

No, he'll contract the job out, then take 50% of the cash anyhow...and then if you lose a tool or something he'll still want the job done in less time that it should take to do it.

Of course, that's only if he's not having a bad day and one of his 50 cats don't die.

I went out there but you were pulling out as I walked out the house. I was off today due to WInter Storm 2008.

All you need to do is find a 99-04 donor rear end, it won't mater the condition since you want to upgrade everything anyway, so try to find one with damaged internals to save money. Then buy all your stuff and have it installed while the rear end is out of the car, it'll be cheaper. You can get a kit with 31 spline axles, a detroit locker, gears and all the install stuff for around $1100. Then you'll be all set.

For a sixer, you should only run 4.10's if you have an auto, in a stick 1st gear will be useless. If you DO have a 5-spd, then run 3.73's. I don't know if you have it already, but you'll need a tuner to adjust for the new gears, dyno tuning isn't required.
