A PI torque converter is around $600. I would instead get the 4.10 gears, tlok and shift kit first it is one of the best mods for the money period!!!!!!

a used PI is about $600. A brand new one will run you about 700 or so plus ~$200 for install. It is an amazing mod, but get some 4.10s with tlock and a 23 tooth speedo gear installed for that money and you'll feel a large difference as well

Gef is has good prices but they are often time out of tloks. When I ordered mine I ended up getting one from West Coast Differential at www.differentials.com because GEF was out They have about the same prices

I will mention one thing is GEF's return policies suck. Paul Greenflash00 ordered a 4.10 ring and pinion set and had it installed and it made a racket. he took it back to the shop and tried for 2 days to get it right. The shop said it was warped. Paul contacted GEF and they told him once itr was installed they would not take it back but they would give him a 10% discount on the next one he bought???? That sucks. He went to Midwest and ordered one and thwe shop installed it with no problems.

read.

you'll have to ask around. find a speedshop and ask them. do not go to ford, under any conditions, or any dealership.

Would it be a better idea just to go for the 8.8 if im planin on adding a sc? Also does the 8.8 directly swap out with the 7.5 and can i do that myself. but then do i still have to have someone install gears?

some will come with gears already installed. Some will have them taken out to save weight on shipping. If installed, then you can installed the rear end yourself. It will bolt up directly very easily.

www.speedconcepts.net is where you can buy it

Quite a lot. There are people well over 300RWHP still using the 7.5. The fact is the 7.5 is more than enough to handle any N/A application and will hold up well with Nitrous or Supercharger. The key is going beyond 300HP you should avoid using Drag slicks. The use of street drag radials is OK.

Key is take car of the stock rear end and it will be OK. Remember if you get a Tlok change the lube and add friction modifier every 18 months or so. People seem to overlook changing the rearend lube. Especially with 3.73 or 4.10 gears.

I have never understood why people neglect Rearend lube, Brake fluid or Power steering fluid. Brake fluid absorbs close to 4% water every year and in 5 years your brake fluid is milky and nearly 20% water. Power steering is not nearly as bad a brakes but in 5 years you can be 10% water and is a major cause of the classic Ford Power steering pump noise.

my power steering made noise from 5 miles on the clock till now but you are very true change your fluids lol, how hard is it to change the powersteering fluid?

also if you ever really plan to drag race the car alot get an 8.8 its not much more if any more expensive, i broke my 7.5 with just bolt ons on street tires with 2.1 - 2.2 60ft but if you buy only new parts and get a pro to put them in i belive any non slick 2.0 ~ 60ft will hold up fine with the 7.5

before you order parts go price around and see what installs are gonna run you along with what kind of warranty they offer for gear whine and wear or install mishaps, along with asking them if they know how to set the backlash, pinion depth and all that if they dont know what those are... chances are they are not the shop for you, you might have to talk with the guy that will do the install to find out not the clerk, also i would pay a buziness to do it so you have their liability, paying a friend is nice but if they break he wont be responsible and all that.
