Too Ricy?

Ok guys here goes another one for my friend lol I was checking out his stang and he put on an x pipe hooking up with some flowmaster but it sounds crapy. He kinda mest up by putting on one side a series 40 flowmaster and the other side is a series 40 flowmaster delta. The side with the reguler series 40 is the one that sounds crapy but the company told him it was the most aggresive. When he would rev it up in the low rpms it sounds good but as soon as he goes over about 3500 rpms its has this annoying rice sound to it. Does anyone know if he should change the x pipe or do u think its just the muffler and does anyone have any suggestions on his set up? Oh and my friend has an 08 mustang v6.

Re: Too Ricy?

It's the mufflers not the X-Pipe. Might think about going to a 50 series delta flow. It is 3 chamber muffler, but that should help with that "ricer" sounding buzz

Re: Too Ricy?

flowmasters and hp numbers usually dont mix, if he is going for the most hp he can get... it wont be with those. Regardless run the same muffler on each side. The v6 doesnt sound amazing no matter what you do~ its even fire afterall. You just have to keep it mellow toned

Re: Too Ricy?

Is the X-pipe catted? If the X-pipe is not catted, that is the cause of your ricey sound on a V6, not the mufflers, just ask Brad (aka Lowflyn) about that one...

Re: Too Ricy?

im shocked it sounds ricey??? i got an x pipe and super 40 flowmasters. It doesnt sound ricey at all......check out the link below my signature, tell me if you think thats ricey. maybe it is and it just sound good to me lol

i also have no cats so Y2E0L0L5OGWT has a point about the cats. Also is his car supercharged? that 40 series is really ment for a muscle car and if your car is stock and puting down like 200 horses its really not going to sound that good.

Lol..you can still hear the dying cat in Starkvegas.

+1 on the question though, if the car has not cats it will sound ricey up top no matter what mufflers you run. The only real way to fix that is to do some port work.

If it does have cats, look into a quieter muffler. I was contemplating the 50 series on my car to mellow it out some, it had an offroad X pipe, straight through mufflers, and 3.5 inch tips (22 inches long). It was pretty dang annoyingly loud.
