Dittos on the gears! If you don't wuz out and do 3.55:1s, a 3.73:1 or 4:10s will make it feel like you added two more cylinders to your car.
Heck, I even ran 4.56:1s on my 1992 V8 for a while. While they were not right for my combination at the drag strip, on the street they were pretty cool. Just pick any gear to start in and they'd chug on up. But, those are not for the faint of heart and are pretty much for really hard core guys, IMO. Back in the day, I briefly ran a set of 5.13's in my brand X car. That's Too Much of a good thing.
I think what's happening in the V6 field is just remarkable. The sound some of them make with a good dual exhaust sounds like high dollar European sports cars.
Back on topic, you won't be sorry if you go with gears and they will make better use of all the stuff you are considering.
