do that.

also, don't say that a CEL is ok at any time... it is there to protect you from your car, and if something is wrong whether it be small or large, it needs addressing. some guy that put on new exhaust can't get their CEL to go off and they don't care. the CEL has thousands of different codes it puts out to let you know what is the matter. don't waste it. sorry for the rant.

Hey Guys, FYI. I just spoke with Ford Dealership and they told me it could be an emissions problem. I made an appt. for Monday. He told me to disconnect battery cables as advised by Rellik to clear. He said if it returns after around 50 miles of driving it would be something else and to bring it in. I may take it in anyway. by the way, I do have a CAI on this car, he didn't know if it would void warranty or not. It's been on the vehicle for around 17,000 miles...

A CEL means that you SHOULD go in to get it checked out. It means that there IS something wrong, no doubt about that.

I had to reset my CEL because I was doing modifications to the car, and turned the car over before I was completed. (I didnt tighten down the ERG Valve, and the Power Brake Booster vaccum line came off). I disconnected the battery, tighened everythign back up, re-connected the battery.. no more CEL and the car ran great (before it wouldn't keep an idle and it sounded like hell).

I understand the rant, and maybe my comment wasn't needed at this particular time. But I will Agree.... a CEL shouldn't ever be ignored. If you cant figure out whats wrong yourself... take it in.

Rellik, Thanks for the info. I am going to take it in anyway as I would like to get it checked out for any problems, have oil changed etc. I usually do the oil myself but since miles are getting up there I like to have it looked at and any issues resolved before catastrophe strikes!! I take care of my stuff!!!

As they say: "You can Pay me NOW or Pay me Later"

Re: Check Fuel Cap Light OFF!

the fuel cap light is ussually on with mil light. if fuel cap went off then problem was probably fixed due to loose fuel cap. mil(ck engine) lamp will go off if 3 complete monitors(3 trips with 50 - 65 mph driving at light cruise speeds. if lights come back on then you have a fuel vapor leak in fuel system that dealer needs to diagnos.
