Re: swaybar

ok , this is my problem, i have americang racing wheels torq trust II 17 x 9.5 all around with 245 45 17 in the front and 285 40 17 im the backon my v6 2001, dont know the offset / back spacing of the wheels,

..at full lock the wheels rub against the swaybar, i will buy new rims, at AM , bullit style 17 x 9 ( 275 40 17)and 17 x 10.5(315 35 17), but i dont want that the front wheels rub agaibst the swaybar with my new rims,

any advice?? should i go with 17 x 9 front or 17 x 8??

Re: swaybar

just get wheel spacers for the front wheels. they make them in different sizes.

Re: swaybar

Just don't go full lock.

THe problem is the 9" rim. GT's come with 8" rims. Cobras have a limiter on the steering that prevents them from going far enough to rub that's why they don't rub. If you buy the plastic limiters for yours steering rack you too could have 9" rims without rubbing.

I wouldn't worry about and and just don't go full lock.

Re: swaybar

Never looked where my 17x9's rubbed in my gt...just knew they rubbed at full lock so I didn't go full lock.

Re: swaybar

purevenom i have 2 questions:

1. how much you cant turn the steering wheel? that amount is a problem or is almost the same?

2. the 17 x 9 looks better that 17 x 8 or looks the same

It's about 1/8th - 1/10th of a rotation of your steering wheel. About 3/4" of tire turn. It's not a problem at all.

Re: swaybar

I like the 9's better...they looking meatier...and they help in stopping and cornering I think.
