Need advice.... 4.2

Ok so im still kinda new to this whole modding thing but im loving every step of the way was hoping for twin turbos but im settling for 4.2...
Now i've read many posts but i have little things im hoping u guys could help clear up for me...

So in order to do a 3.8 to 4.2 all i need to do is change the crank?

So that means i could actually keep my stock 3.8 block?
Do I have to change the pistons or bearings? or is it highly recommended to do while changing the crank?
I do in the future plan on running the twin turbo so should i just change the block now?

Delk Performance

If u dont mind check out the above link and see if there Rotating Assembly package is a good deal and its everything i need

Thanx guys I really appreciate the help

Re: Need advice.... 4.2

basicly the 4.2 f150 is the same engine except the crank and pistons. when you change the crank you have to change the pistons n rods as well ,Keep the block, if your going twin turbo get the steel crank and forged pistons

Re: Need advice.... 4.2

for sure go with a steel crank and forged pistons. you also need to get new bearings. if your going to let a engine shop assemble your short block "which I reconmend" let them source the bearings as they may need to line hone the block and require oversized bearings. Also get total seal rings made for boost. as far as heads If you can get o-ring heads go for it.

Another very reliable source is SuperSix Motorsports. I am running their parts in my new 4.2

Re: Need advice.... 4.2

Pistons were wrong for a 4.2 crank, no offset.
the rocker pedestals were completely milled off on the heads throwing the valvetrain geometry off. It pretty much ate itself up.

Re: Need advice.... 4.2

I bought everything for my 4.2 through RPM, but I hear they haven't been as active lately. We got the motor assembled and installed and it ran like a champ. No problems.

Sorry to hear about your motor slvr2000stang

Re: Need advice.... 4.2

Mik @ RPM has scaled back, but is still in the game.
I just talked with him a week ago and he is doing well.

As for my motor, you live & learn and hopefully my experience will save someone else.

Re: Need advice.... 4.2

You might want to take a look at this site:

Tom Morana Racing Engines

He sells packages that come with everything needed to not only add about 60HP without induction, but to prep the engine so it can handle up to 500HP

Does anyone have any experience with this company? I'm looking into bumping my 4.0 to 4.3 and a cam. Should be 270HP with those (crank)

A high output supercharger or even a turbo would be good because under normal driving conditions the mileage remains the same. If it's a daily driver i'd say skip the stroker step, if you're building a car that is for racing at the strip but doesn't have to be towed there, sell your car, get a 5.0 GT and let the mods begin.

Almost every 400hp+ v6 owner out there is pissed that they don't have a v8 and spent enough to have a used GT500

Just my $ .02

Re: Need advice.... 4.2

lol! Yeah that would be sweet, some twisted individual actually put the v12 from an aston martin DB9 in his mustang even though it only produces 450BHP (obviously less than the Shelby's v8...) and it sounded like 2 V6s making it twice as Ricey.

The sickest thing I ever saw was a new GT with a fog light delete and recessed exhaust, it totally looked like a v6 and a GTI tried to race him and got smoked badly... It was awesome.
