New front bumper

I am getting a nice size tax return and I want to upgrade the Mustang looks a little bit. But I cant decide on what front bumper to go with. I leaning towards the Roush Stage3/380-R front bumper becuase the "mouth" seems it would provide better air flow for the Intercooler I plan to run for my supercharger. they all cost around the same. So what one would you get?

Saleen 281

Roush Stage3/380-R

Cobra R

Roush FTW

I bought mine for 455 shipped from stage3motorsports with foglights and adapters. I believe MeteoraChick got hers from the same place.

Re: New front bumper

Roush seems to be a popular choice and offers the best airflow for FMIC's. I like the Saleen on light colored cars (white/yellow/silver) as with the Roush as well. The cobra R bumper is wicked but doesnt really allow for lowering unfortunately unless youve got seriously smooth roads and no speedbumps or "ramps" to parking lots and what not. In the same aspect Ive seen a local Roush with a chewed up front lip and its not lowered.

Re: New front bumper

I saw that Stage3 had both saleen and roush front ends. I like the idea that the Roush comes with the fog lights too. which is something in need anyways. The Saleen looks tough too.

Re: New front bumper

Dont go with the 2000 Cobra R front as it looks horrible. The roush or saleen is a personal thing that you need to consider based on how you want the car to look.

Re: New front bumper

little key advice in my opinion when doing bodywork...
1 body kits dont normally look good with stock wheels. unless they have style to them (ie Cobra or deep dish bullet wheels)
2 PAINT PAINT PAINT, i hate driving around and seeing ricers with a primer body kit it just looks tacky.
3 have a professional do it, if something happens where it breaks or gets damaged in the process more than likely you will be covered. (edit) unless you yourself are a professional, like some people on this site lol

LOL.

Naw... I've just seen waaay too many problems with the R bumper, no matter what your clearance is with the car. Not worth it to me for all the dings, scrapes, and dents you'd prolly get with it. That's why I'll never have one...

Its like hottcobra said its what you are into do you want something that will help performance aka roush or do you want to sacrifice the airflow for the look of the saleen or cobra r?

Re: New front bumper

im pretty sure that the fmic would breathe just fine with either bumper, as its proven with various cars. but its totally up to the owner, just make sure u pick one u can live with are you just doing the front bumper?

Re: New front bumper

I plan on doing the entire body. Front will be Roush, the sides will probably be the Razzi "R21"; since the actully fit my side exit exhaust kit. However I may get the roush and change out the tips. The rear will be Roush or the CDC rear quarter's. That will depend on what will flow better after I get the front and sides done.

Razzi R21 side skirts

Roush and cobra R look like snow plows on the front of the car...

Only option is Saleen.

Re: New front bumper

The Saleen is my second choice. However it does cost more then Roush. So that was one of the deciding factors. I also gave my car crew the same choice in front bumpers and they voted for the Roush.

Dont think I really liked the Cobra R. Just my brother and a friend of mine brought up the Cobra R a while back. so I added it to the list. they were the only ones who voted for it.

And yes the Cobra R and Roush do have the snow plow look. I think the Cobra R more becuase of the front spoiler.

No I am not getting that Super High Rise spoiler. I am thinking about geeting the 01-04 Saleen 281 Spoiler or useing the SS Spoiler I had my Saturn. Agian it just depends on what flows better with body lines.

I dont think it would be that bad. i had decided to go urethane no matter what bumper i went with . that way i wouldnt have worry about braking any fiberglass

Re: New front bumper

I am going urethane. And there are companies that do make a 2000 Cobra R out of urethane. There probably is a clearnce issue on lowered mustangs. I am gonna drop the front end 1.5in. I think there is still gonna be room if I did go Cobra R. But again going Roush

Re: New front bumper

it wont matter what you use, if you lower it more than an inch its to low and will have issues, it may not shatter but scratching it all up.... that doesnt look very good. Ive talked to many people with a lowered car and the cobra R front... they all said it sucks and they all are scratched up and messed up

also IMO it doesnt look very good eccept on the 00 cobra R it came on lol

Re: New front bumper

Yep never said I liked the bumper but there is a guy in town (and if you ever come to college station texas you'll find out how bad the roads are and how 90% of the driveways are L's) anyway he has an 03 cobra with the full cobra R treatment on coil overs to the point where I think if he changed lanes too quick he might take off the markers.

The underside of the bumper is scraped but the visible parts of it still look great.

My car is silver and IMO the saleen just looks great!!:phat: It definitely has an aggresive look to it and it doesn't look like you would have problem's with not enough airflow through it! Remember, the amount of air that passes through it increases with speed!!:burnout:

Yupp... I have a friend with a urethane 1 piece R bumper and he is constantly having to repaint it because they can't get enough flex additive in the paint for the amount of movement that thing makes.

If you are really set on the look get a 99/01 cobra front and put the R splitter on there, it's removable in that form.

You'll be happy with the Roush Stage 3. The other bumper sort of similar to that is the Termi bumper. I couldn't give up fog lights, which is why I wouldn't ever go with the Saleen front bumper.
