Exclamation SCT X3 awesome results

I have a 4.0 2008 manual, I have had an american thunder axle back single exhaust and an S&B cold air intake for months now and today I got my X3 and uploaded a custom tune based on my mods for torque with 91 fuel.

Now I have some awesome numbers here but keep in mind they were acquired from the iphone app called dynolicious. (check it out here )

My numbers before the tune (but after the air intake and flowmaster) were:
175 RWHP, 0-60 7.5 (I did 10 damn runs, that was the best) 1/4 mile 15.9

I just did two runs today with a full tank, a bunch of crap in the trunk and it was raining (little above a drizzle).

1) 193 RWHP, 0-60 6.7 1/4 mile 15.0
2) 193 RWHP, 0-60 6.5 1/4 mile 14.87

That's 18 RWHP and a full second off of the 0-60, and a 14.8 1/4 mile is not bad for a 6

Re: SCT X3 awesome results

Did you have to hook the iPhone to the car via a cable to the obd2 port?

Re: SCT X3 awesome results

the iPhone uses gps and the accelerometer to determine everything, you just have to tell it the curb weight with you in the car to get accurate WHP but everything else it can figure out, you just put it in the cup holder and hit it

I have some friend arguing over the accuracy of those...should know in a few weeks. We found out the Gtech is pretty damn close (within .1 in a 1/4) and the mph is pretty much right on if you don't spin.

Gonna use both the Gtech and the dynolicious at the track in a few weeks to see which one is more accurate.

Yeah, I can't see how HP can be accurate at all. The 1/4 times I can kinda see being pretty close using gps and all, but to guestimate the HP based on the weight of the car seems way off. Lots of stuff goes into 1/4 speed and hp calculations.

Because he is using a device to "calculate" his 1/4 mile time, not really running down a 1/4 mile track.

If you watch the youtube video that I embedded they prove that the iPhone is more accurate than the Gtec, but even if it's not accurate it should be consistently off, and it showed me a before and after of 18 RWHP, the car feels more powerful as well and I can spin the tires without dropping the clutch. I'll take it to a dyno to confirm this when I have the cash but as of right now I'm happy and I'm pretty sure the iPhone is within 1 percent of accuracy

I think it calculates G-force (using the accelerometer) and uses the curb weight to calculate how much HP it would take to get the car to accelerate at the rate it's going. I do want to compare it to a real dyno but I don't have the cash right now.

Stock the car does a 15.0 according to car and driver (in the manual, 15.3 in the auto) and hits 60 in 6.6 (6.9 auto) but they run it like 100 times with a professional race car driver. I'm no pro, 15.9 is all I could do before the SCT and now I can get under 15 consistently.

This goes for every car though, I know people with stock GTs that have a hard time hitting 60 under 6.

When the roads dry up in a week or so I'm going to try this again, I think I can hit 6.3 and 14.7
