New CAI I modded today

So I picked up a CAI off Ebay awhile back, finally got the correct coupling to the throttle body sent to me. Then I decided I didnt want the filter in the fender, so I did a little modding to the kit, I think it came out pretty decent.

Whatcha guys think? Will my aluminum box keep the heat away well enough? It fits pretty close up to the hood.

i like the diamond plating. never seen it before. why wouldn't you want the cone in the fender though?

Re: New CAI I modded today

It looks good but joe's right! You should drop it all the way down behind the fog light.

It will do 2 things...

1 if you leave it up there you're still sucking hot air!!

2 if you drop it down you will be able to suck more cold air in as you increase speed thus increasing your horsepower!!:burnout:

check it out in pics. plenty of us have all the way down the fender.
There is just one major flaw with that!!!

Warning!!:drive: Be very carefull driving in the rain!! If you drive through a deep puddle you are more likely to suck in water!! That will kill your engine!!:suicide:

I don't think the 2-3 extra horsepower is worth that much more trouble. But if you are bored and want to do it then go for it.

Actually in many applications moving the intake from the fenderwell back into the engine bay netted horsepower increases of over 15whp. Removing the shroud (metal) from blocking the backside picks up more power.

At least this is the case on a 03/04 cobra, hence the reason I'm running a huge open filter in the engine bay.

Don't use the 03/04 cobra to try and compare any power gains. Of course if you have a supercharger getting fed through a straw and switch to a 3" pipe its going to add power.

Anyway it looks great, but it would have been better in the fender well.
