Ford rates their engines on a dyno with accessories at the crank, not at the wheels

Windstar intake is the only different upper you can get. 4.2 heads are the exact same as the ones on your 3.8

Reuse your own accessory system

By then ill have a new tranny and 8.8 rear as well. This way I dont have to worry about the oil pan or flywheel or oil pick-up tube or anything, just simply swap engines!
where do you find this short block at?? And is it for the mustang or the f150?

You can re-use your heads and intake, I just bought another flexplate for the 4.2(since mines an auto).

I went on a F-150 forum to find out if the 99 4.2 will work. This is what I found out.
The heater tube assembly is different between 99-98. I just found that out. My 98 was a special order truck in late 98, I have a handful of 99' model systems in my 98. It's a pain in the butt to figure out sometimes.

Only differences I see is the 99 engine has 205 HP, the 98 210 HP. The 99 has 255 torque @ 3700 RPM.

The 98 has the same but it makes it at 3000 rpms vs 3700 rpms.

The 99's compression ratio is 9.26
The 98's is 9.3.
