Angry EGR Insanity

1995 V6

I made things much worse and am now at wits end....

Original problem was hesitation and bucking at mid speed during acceleration and a P1407 code. I pulled the EGR and flushed out the exhaust side with carb cleaner- it looked relatively clean to begin with. I then replaced the DPFE, EGR Valve Solenoid, and the TPS.

Now when I try to start it, it immediately revs up to about 2000rpm and then drops off rapidly and stalls. If I give it the gas, I can keep it running at1500rpm or above so now its not driveable.

Is there anything special about installing the TPS? The other two parts were no-brainers. Any other thoughts?

Re: EGR Insanity

The TPS is modular with no adjustment possible. Two bolts with no slop for movement- it is plug and play. I just tried swapping the new TPS with the old and am getting the same result so I think something else is now going on.

No matter what EGR system vacuum line or connector I pull, I keep getting the same result. Could it be that I have multiple codes now causing this condition? I've been relying on borrowing a hand-held OBD-II tool from Advanced Auto Parts, but now I'm stranded...

Re: EGR Insanity

About the original problem and this is just speculation but when was the last time your fuel injectors were cleaned and fuel filter was changed? I had the same problem and the next time I filled up I just put some transmission fluid in the tank and that cleaned the injectors and then changed the fuel filter and I didnt have the problem anymore.
