radiator leaking! yay :S

alrighty, well i found out why my coolant light came on twice now, first time i thought it was a fluke, my radiator seems to be leaking from both ends somewhere (where the fins meet the end parts) so i'm going to go take some stuff off and see if i can locate exactly whats going on, wish me luck! (its finally sunny here so its now or never)

Re: radiator leaking! yay :S

alrighty, well i went and took off the top plastic thingy, and half of the fan so i could get a better look, looks like the yellow stuff (sealant?) is totally trashed down on the bottom compared to the top (i don't usually play with radiators so i'm not exactly sure what its supposed to look like, but compared to the top it looks like its not sealed)

any suggestions on replacing a radiator that will make my life easier? i might as well put new hoses on too...

on a side note... there is a bracket that goes over the radiator, over the fan, and just past the resivoir and attached is a little box that kinda looks like an ecu, what is that? i figured abs cause below is some other box thingy that says abs, but it might also be for the ford installed alarm, not sure :S ill take a pic if i think about it later.

It's not too bad of a job. I did this about a year ago. Just make sure the new radiator is in the mounting gromets straight and you're good to go. It's a simple straight up swap. If you need anything just let us know.

ya, i was kinda pissed at first cause i just bought the car, from a dealership no less... and i was thinking it was going to be a huge deal. getting it outa was kinda a pain, but it all went back in flawlessly.

the one i got was for an auto though, so i just plugged the holes just in case. but its all back in and seems to be doing fine. thank you though.

You should be good to go, then.. Radiators aren't a huge deal, unless they flat out die on you when you're not in a convenient area haha

Good luck

ya, i think i was just expecting more of a hassle, the weather has been a mix of pouring rain, and light rain. but it cooperated enough for me to get it done so all is good. now hopefully the next time i put money into it will be for some mods instead of repairs
