rebuilding a rear

a buddy of mine is giving me a turbo coupe rear, 8.8, set up for disk brakes, but has no brake hardware

he just pulled it out of his car because it was making noise, and had a bad vibration, said it had a lot of backlash, so i figure its due for new gears, t-lock rebuild, wheel bearings and seals and whatnot

question is, how difficult is this? i know getting the lash right is a *****, but i dont know whats involved in the bearings

the rear will be torn down since it will be converted to 5-lug and sn-95 rear disks

Rebuilding a rear end is the absolute most joyous thing you can ever do to a car. I did it. And so can you.

There was an awesome guide I found on The Corral that went through every single step of the rebuild with nice pictures. Let me see if I can find it again...

Oh look here it is: http://www.angelfire.com/theforce/5o...5ohtech001.htm

But I will stress this is not or a person not experienced with tools or doing heavy mechanical work. Rear end work is a PITA if you are on your back doing it.
