3.73 vs 4.10 - 18 mile commute

I commute about 18 miles each way to work.

While I won't drive the stang every day - I'll probably take it 2-3 times a week to work. I've read that 4.10 do fine, but make it a little higher revving in the RPM department.

I'm curious what some of you have for gears if you're in a similar commute situation.

3.73s were pretty radical on my buddies 93 GT Hatch 5 speed. I vote NO

And I am safely assuming there's a noticeable get-up-and-go with 3.73 vs. stock?

3.73s all the way. The 4.10s are too steep for the already steep first gear in the T5s.

With a T5 I would recommend the 3.73. I love the 4.10's paired with the AOD, still gets low 20's on the highway.

Did you ever wonder what life would be like if you had enough oxygen at birth
The differant is not that great curb weight for the fox depending on the model is 3,055 to 3,565. 2004 curb weight is 3,290 to 3,469 On the power side I'm getting as much to the ground as a stock 5.0

Re: 3.73 vs 4.10 - 18 mile commute

yea 3.73 will drop your highway mpg by about 3 with 4.10s it would be worse, plus the drone will be worse... with 3.73s with aftermarket exhaust its going to be bad enough as it is

I was asking you a question, no need to get all prissy, like my wife on her cycle!

The T5 has a completely different gear ratio. IMO 1st gear Sucks with the 3.73s & T5. So, I didn't like 3.73s for a DD fox. Power is not in this equation...

Then you need to ask question in a friendly format and drop your condescending attitude . But I guess it is what it is

All parts ordered - I'll get the 3.73 gears installed in another month or two for sure.

Re: 3.73 vs 4.10 - 18 mile commute

All the T5s used in the V8 Mustangs since 1985 have had the 3.35 1st gear. 1985 was the first year for the "World Class" T5. The only exception is the T5Z used in the Cobras which had the 2.95 first gear.

So it's safe to assume it has a 3.35 1st gear since he has said his car is stock.
