air bag light blinking

ok my air bag light is blinking a code 54 or 45 while it is running. it is a 93 5.0 with the 302 engine in it. any help will be appreciated.

If its 45, I had this SAME exact code - LH Radiator Primary Crash Sensor Not Mounted to Vehicle Properly

It ended up being the connector in the harness under the battery tray was corroding (tray was holding water/coolant from a leak I'd had and it was messing with the harness)

If you go to check it out, be sure to disconnect the battery and leave it disconnected for a while..

54 is : Intermittent or Repaired Primary Crash Sensor Circuit Shorted to Ground

Not sure where to start with that one if its 54..

im just curious, do both sensors need to activate to deploy the airbag? i would hate for that thing to go off randomly cause the sensor was either faulty or had correded wiring...

The light should flash a code a few times, then stay lit, showing the air bags are "shut off". Its basically a safety feature, if the computer finds a prob then it shuts them off as to not cause unwanted deployment.

You want to be careful with it, as - in theory - static charge can set off an airbag, but you should be fine with the battery disconnected

Airbag codes can be found Mustang 1995 Air Bag Diagnostic Codes <-- that's how I figured out my code when mine had the same issue..

Mine flashes constantly because there are no airbags in the car. I wish I could figure out how to turn it off.

I'm pretty sure the foxes used a one ohm resistor for the airbag simulators.. I remember checking one with an ohmmeter, it was pretty much right on the dot.. Head to radio shack and pick up a one ohm resistor, a bit of wire and I'm sure you could get it to work

You can also get the simulators that are used for diagnosis - rotunda tool # 105-00008

I think 93 is different (2 ohm?) and part # would be the same as the 94/95 systems - 105-00010

Yes both sensors need to activate to deploy, unless you induce voltage yourself! Even if you ohmed an airbag that could make it deploy!
