Installing MSD ignition

Alright, my car has an MSD 6A box in it, but its not hooked up... so I want to hook it up but cant figure out a couple things. First, on the coil of the car where the heck is the positive and negative wire for it? Would they be the wires that are attached to the little dilio that plugs into the coil? Also, wheres the easiest place to splice into a wire that is only activated when the key is turned? and last, what would this be "From Points or Electric Ignition Amplifier (original coil (-) wire)"???

any help would be sweet

damn....kinda glad i dont have the 6A box yet. when i did my ignition upgrade is just got the MSD TFI Blaster coil, Ford Racing 9mm wires, Ford Racing Cap and rotor(same price as regular but have a cool name), and motorcraft plugs.

Coil had a harness that just snapped into it, pulled it off the factory coil and plugged it into the MSD one, then had the wire that ran from the coil to the cap. gapped my plugs at .50 instead of .44. noticed a nice little increase in MPG

Yeah im wondering if theres a couple harness' that I dont have and need, cause all the ends of the wires have nice little prongs on the end of them, but nowhere to be stuck into. It just sucks knowing thats there and not being able to use it lol

To be honest You are probably better off not using it. You really dont need it unless you have a heavily modded engine. The stock ignition should do fine. If anything just replace the coil and go with that.

The PDFs on this page should show you everything you need to hook it up. I looked them over and seems fairly straight forward.

yeah, the nitrous will be the only reason you'd want to upgrade. your car doesn't need all that, I mean my buddy that had a hatch with TFS TW heads and 18 lbs of boost from a *-Trim put the top of the line MSD box on (the one that does multiple sparks per revolution) and it netted nothing, no serious change in horsepower, or quarter time. however I think he did say it helped some in the gas mileage department. my point is that it takes a heavily modded car for that to be an improvement, and heads cam and intake alone is only light to medium modded especially when the heads are mediocre like the home ported gt-40 irons. (don't think im knocking them though, mine kick ***)

regardless, if I were in your possition and it was just there in the engine bay already, i'd be hooking it up too good luck

Re: Installing MSD ignition

msd hooks up to a duraspark distributor using the 2 colored wires and not using black wire on distributor.
second setup could use the white wire connected to points. basically you send a pulse from your distributor module or points to the msd and ZAPPPP!
The msd sight will tell all info in pdf format.
2 heavy red and black go to battery, small red to switched ignition.
