Project Day 8-16

Finally got some stuff in for my GT and a day off work with no kids So i'll be working on this thing finally.

Things that will get done for sure:

Install the new rack and pinion
Headlight header panel
1 Piece Black headlight assemblies
Strip rims back to aluminum and clear coat
Modify my hood scoop and paint it.
Repair the dent in my fender and get it primed
Repair the paint that got pealed off from the car wash

Things I would like to also get done.

Make Subframe connectors and weld them in
Make wheel spacers and install them for the rear
Make chin spoiler and install
Make CAI and install

There is more to do but this is probably more than enough to get done in one day. Will take as many pics as possible for anyone that wants to see.

Sounds like a long day! Hope it goes well. I used to love DIY too many years (and cars) ago, but I have no place to do the work anymore and have learned that I'm just not that good at it. No matter how careful I try to be, I tend to get things put back together and have a couple of extra bolts in my hand...where did those come from? DOH

HA! The power of positive thinking. Maybe I'll take a shot at rebuilding my tranny. I could probably shave a few pounds!

Re: Project Day 8-16

Well, turned out to be a ****ty day. Rained most of the day, and since we have choppers being built in the 2nd garage (only one thats useable for a car) I had to work outside. So by time it quit raining I only had time to do the header panel and headlights because the fender is a lot more tweaked than i realized. Gonna have to get a new fender

Is there a reason to not make spacers? Or just a general warning that they aren't an "easy" thing to do by the average person. Besides being a mechanic i'm also a machinist. As is my dad and my brother. We have a small machine shop in the big garage (mill, lathe, cnc center, drill presses, hydraulic press, plasma cutter, welders, etc). My dad and brother run a small chopper business also. Home Site hasn't been updated in a while as most business comes from word of mouth and bike forums. I don't mess with the business stuff to much but do have my own chopper i'm building.

Anyway, will continue as i get more time and post some pics.

Re: Project Day 8-16

Your going to need to make sure your spacers are perfectly balanced!

Re: Project Day 8-16

i don't believe there is enough mass for it to make a difference that would be felt or cause any problems. Kind of like a rotor or drum. They are definetly not balanced. Hell most of the time they aren't even perfectly parallel and the runout form the center hole is off.
