94 302ci build configuration help.

i have a 94 gt with 185k on it, I am looking to do a new engine build. I need some advice on top end configuration, I would like to find a complete top end kit for around $2500 I am looking to get around 400+hp if possible. also Has anyone used a Late model restoration budget build short block? or should you stay away from them? I mean $699 for a shortlock seems to good to be true.

anyways I really need good Ideas and suggestions on what heads, camshaft, intake, and throttle body size as well as MAF size....

Thanks for the help here guys!!!

Re: 94 302ci build configuration help.

might be possible but that block will hold only about 500whp and after that i hear alot about cracked blocks so if plan on future plans i would go with a different block u need to bore the motor to even get that from what i hear

Re: 94 302ci build configuration help.

If you are looking for a complete top end kit you have a few choices. Edelbrock, Trick Flow just to name a few. I think they are more expensive than what you stated above but it comes with everything except lifters I believe. I have never ehard of the short block that you are talking about so I can't offer any advice on that unfortunately.

Even with the top end kit, you are looking around 300ish hp. To get closer to 400 you would need to do a stroker kit, which requires boring and notching the block. If yoiu do that there is no point in doing a short block because you would need a new crank and new pistons/rings.

For the price, you can't beat the Trick Flow top end kit. It comes with everything you need to get right around 280-300 rwhp. By 400+ hp, do you mean at the flywheel or the rear wheels?

Either one is going to be hard to obtain without stroking or forced induction. You should end up around 360 flywheel HP or so with the Trick Flow kit though.
