if it comes off of the negative terminal, its for the EEC ground

there should be a connector somewhere for it, unless your wire is cut or broken

if its what i think it is, the car fires up, then dies quickly doesnt it?

nope the starter doesen't crank.......new starter and stater relay before engine dissasembled (i know it works) ...my wiring harness it pretty much squared away....except for trans linkage and O2 sensors car.... is currently in neutral.... and was in park...tried'em both......i was told it is the main ground for the comp. and is located in between the battery and starter relay ...the end of the cable was cut and much like alot of my wiring from the previous owner

Re: 87gt no start... were does this wire go?

im going to check my EVTM's a bit and see if i can come up with. But the main EEC ground doesnt go to the starter selenoid, it runs directly to the battery. I found this out the hard way in my own car.

when you try to start the car, does the lights dim, and your gauges react accordingly?

Have you tried bridging the starter selenoid with two screw drivers? to make sure the starter isnt the problem?

i replaced the starter before i dissasembled the engine...and the relay....i tryed to jump the relay with and ajustable wrench.. instant weld! replaced the relay again ......i touched the starter cable to the possitive battery terminal and it cranked....im still "lost in the sauce"

Re: 87gt no start... were does this wire go?

you have a test light, and a helper? the wire that goes to the starter selenoid, the thin one that attachs to the thin post is the signal from the ignition circuit, test that wire and see if it gets power while someone tries to crank it, if it gets power, who knows what the problem is
