If it's original, it's an 8.8. All fox 5.0's from 86 to 93 came with 8.8's.

I had a 92 LX 5.0 vert silver with black int & top, Selling it was a big mistake. It's a hard car to replace.

Re: 92 gt conv 5 speed

they have odd gear options year to year, so im not sure its probably 2.73 or 3.08 gears~

which suck lol but the 5.0 doesnt have a very high rpm power band stock. Most seem to like 3.73 in a manual and 4.10s in an auto.

Re: 92 gt conv 5 speed

thanks spector talked to several 5.0 guys that has had 3.73s most say 3.55 are a better all around gear to say we take the car on a trip 95% on here say do 3.73. was going to do kenne bell and 3.55s but now more thinking of headers cats and full exhaust and 3.73s. i know with the kennie bell the 3.55s would have been great just hard to decide and be happy before you buy
thanks mark

We're running 4.10's on the 90 (AOD car) and they're perfect. It cruises just fine and has plenty of get up and go. For a 5 speed I'd suggest the 3.73, you're not going to notice much gas mileage difference with the 3.55 vs 3.73.
