T-56 for fox?

Hey I was looking through the G-force catalog and saw the T-56. I want to buy one but I don't know if they make a version that will fit into a fox. Anybody know? thanks!

Re: T-56 for fox?

I'm not sure if G-Force does, but I know there are other places that offer entire swap kits for the T-56 into a fox. It's been done many times before, but it can be a bit pricey (nearly 3g's at the minimum). The swap requires a shorter driveshaft, different crossmember, and extending a couple of wires. Also, if you get the Viper version of the T-56 (which I would recommend due to the .50 6th gear), you'll need a 26 tooth clutch. Not sure what other versions of the tranny require.

PM me and I can give you a link to a kit.

Re: T-56 for fox?

the only thing a 6 speed is good for is shifting to another gear (the ford spec) it may be better for autox... but 99% of fox owners want to go in a straight line.

Re: T-56 for fox?

If I build a coupe, I'm gonna put a T-56 in it. Simpy because you can get the Viper spec with 2.66/1.78/1.30/1.00/.74/.50 gearing, throw in some 4.10 gears, and have a nice closely geared transmission with a ridiculously low overdrive gear. Not to mention they'll handle 650 lb-ft of torque.

Re: T-56 for fox?

The F-Bodies and 'vettes had the .50 2nd overdrive, too. I knew a guy with an 6-speed LT1 TA who ran 4.56 gears.

Re: T-56 for fox?

yea I would run atleast a 4:56 rear gear with a 6spd with its overdrive being so low. Screams off the line and still gets decent gas mileage lol

Re: T-56 for fox?

thanks for your help guys, if I got a T-56 tranny from G-force instead is there anyway to get the driveshaft, crossmember, speedo cable, etc. by themselves without purchasing the trans?

Re: T-56 for fox?

Probably so, just give them a call and see what they say. I doubt they'd turn down a sale though.

Re: T-56 for fox?

The driveshaft can be shortened at a driveshaft shop, you have to go into the truck industry to find a place to do it.

The crossmember can also be made. The speedo cable might be hard to get.

Biggest problem is cost. A Ford T56 is very hard to come by, and expensive, and the viper setup is worse, but easier to attain and can be bought as a whole kit.

Re: T-56 for fox?

I belive you can use/modify the chevy crossmember, seen it included with a ford kit somewhere...
