So much work...and taking steps backwards...

Today, Bane and i were working on my 5.0. I got a new timing chain in it, prepped all of the gasket surfaces, and started bolting the heads on. Get through the drivers side head, bolts torqued down beautifully. Get the the passanger side, everything goes well untill i get to the last bolt. It just spun. Hole is stripped.

Havnt figured out what i want to do, i dont know if id trust a heli coil for a head bolt. Right now would be the perfect time to try to find an Explorer engine, get a cam, pop an intake manifold on it, and use all my previously bought items on it. Get a little more bang for the buck that way, but pulling an engine from an explorer in the junkyard definatly wont be fun

sure wouldn't be fun, but i'd say it be worth it in the long run.
or hell you could just pull a head and finish slappin it together:dunno:

It wasnt the head that was damaged, it was the block.

Ive decided to hunt for an Explorer engine with GT40P heads, pick up an aftermarket cam, put some good valve springs on the 40P's, my long tubes, an aftermarket intake manifold and throttle body, then all the little stuff i have like pulleys, it should run its balls off hopefully.

You could get by with a helicoil just fine.
