Hmm...think I would rather the 5.0 with the eaton/kb/whipple than the modular.

Re: Ive been inspired, Im gonna fab up my own S/C

Mustangs from 94 to 98 with the 96-98 style rear tail lights run 10-15 degrees cooler. Yet another reason to upgrade, other than the fact that 96-98 look so much better in every way always ever.

Cause those tail lights, hood, and stock spoiler made such a difference.

Zim's car looks meaner. Plus, it came with the V6 bumper.

Re: Ive been inspired, Im gonna fab up my own S/C

Hey Zim....here are some numbers for you:

across the back from edge to the outside part of the plenum is 12"
across the back from edge to the outside part of the throttle body is 13"
across the back from edge to the outside part of the intake tube is 17"
Front to back is 23"
Actual width is 8"
Height from the top of the lower intake is 6"
From the top of the lower to the bottom of the pulley I didn't measure, but, I have a 2.76" pulley, so subtract about 1.38" from the previous measurment...so we are looking at around 4.75"...but that is with my 15 lb pulley. the pulley you would run would be a 3.5" pulley, so...that would be about 4.25"

Let me know if you need any different numbers....or anything.

Re: Ive been inspired, Im gonna fab up my own S/C

You could just run a huge air to air intercooler and not have to worry about the fluid box location...

You will see much higher intake temps unless you declare war on them and go all out to keep them down, by this you would need an additional tranny cooler, oil cooler, ceramic coating, heat wrapping, what is it..methanol or nitrous sprayed IC? You will have high temps unless you do a lot to keep them down. I'm realizing this. I need to do something about my tranny...I just have the B&M hiTeck hooked up now, but I need to piggyback that and my stock cooler.

Re: Ive been inspired, Im gonna fab up my own S/C

I have two blower car one roots and one vortech. I highly suggest the water cooled. This is a little extreme, but here is a good link to someone running a custom intercooler lots of good info. I have the same setup as his on my Q.

Re: Ive been inspired, Im gonna fab up my own S/C

Why not just put a turbo on it or two. I have seen several on the 5.0's and I am thinking of throwing one on mine, in the future. I mean its all fine and dandy to put a m112 on it but why? If your hell bent on this setup I wish you luck and hope you get it worked out.

Re: Ive been inspired, Im gonna fab up my own S/C

Yeah, Im gonna start with an entry level blower and go with the powerdyne. Its self contained, and looks to be an easy install. Plus running only 6-8lbs, my 24 # injectors should be ok on a conservative tune. I found a guy on corral upgrading to a turbo setup, so when does that he's gonna sell me a rebuilt head unit along with everything else I need. Its possible that he might even throw in 42lb injectors and a MAF calibrated for them. Should be fun this summer

Re: Ive been inspired, Im gonna fab up my own S/C

Why settle for a Powwerdyne? All you will ever see is 6-7 lbs of boost max.The install was a piece of cake on my Vortech and I have zero oil leaks. You are giving up an extra 100 rwhp with that blower vs. a Vortech,Novi,or even Procharger

Re: Ive been inspired, Im gonna fab up my own S/C

Thats ok, its in my price range and itll work well for what I want to use it for. Im not looking for a track monster... I basically want a nicely tuned street car with occasional track visits. Also, depending on whether the guy includes the bigger maf and 42# injectors, I could pulley it differently and get a little more boost out of it.

That's the trouble with the powerdyne.Try to pulley it different and get more boost then you will break the internal blower belt. Mine is not a track car either. I was looking for just a nice sleeper car.

Re: Ive been inspired, Im gonna fab up my own S/C

If i can get a consistant 9psi out of the powerdyne, ill be perfectly happy with that. This is just an entry level blower for me... I dont want too much power to the point where I have to worry about blowing other stuff up such as my weak tranny lol. For now itll be fine until I get out of school, and get a job to fund my hobby. It wont be a monster, but ill have some decent power... and thats basically what Im looking for.

Re: Ive been inspired, Im gonna fab up my own S/C

well hopefully my combo just ends up being one of those that just works together nicely. I also want to have my upper and lower intakes ported sometime eventually. Know of any good porting companies that do good work on the gt40s?

Re: Ive been inspired, Im gonna fab up my own S/C

I'd say he's one of the lucky ones to get that much boost from one. If it makes you happy going with the Powerdyne then by all means go for it.They have alot going for them as far as easy install and to add the are inexpensive.
