Cool 93 cobra computer in a 94-95??

Hi again everyone...Yes, another one of these goofy questions. Just wanting to know if anybody was able to put a 93 cobra computer in a 94-95 mustang? Thanks in advance. I know it might be possible with a special plug(adapter), which are rare, and quite expensive at best.

I see many cars at shows that have done this simple because they say the 94-95 computer is a dog for programming

Yeah, I agree with you there. The Gt's computers have hardly any adjustabilty. Any mods you put on the engine, and that computer gets screwy. I have a 95 cobra computer in it now. Is a bit better, but recently had changed my timing chain to gears, and seems to still be that dreaded miss problem. So, am opting for another computer, as its the thing I haven'y changed out yet.

dont waste the money on a new computer, go to a tuner and get a chip for your computer you have now... Get it tuned and itll be fine.

I agree with you there ZIMSTANG, but the car has to run right first. GOt to have a good computer for the programmer to do its job. I am in the process of SLOWLY saving up for the Anderson PMS system for my ride. Will be a matter of time for that though.

Thats the job of the tuner, to get your car running smoothly... putting a chip into an a9l is the same thing as putting it into any other computer and then programming it. Basically the chip overrides your stock tune and puts something completely new on there. Id really just take it to a dyno and have them tune it on there... might cost a little bit, but thats the best way to get it running right IMO

Yes ZIMSTANG, I do agree with you there. But I can't Get the car to run past 2 cylinders. No matter what I've done so far. It leads me to believe that my computer had crapped out. I do have a J4J1 i it now. Believe me, I want a tuner, but I have to replace the computer, as the car isn't running. You'd have to see it to know what I mean. Thanks.

Re: 93 cobra computer in a 94-95??

Hey John,
I wouldn't waste the time with the A9L. Just as Zim has said, just work with the computer that you have. If it is a J4J1, that's fine. The tuner will be able to work with it. I have a Tweecer RT on my 94GT, and that solved all my issues. Below is my signature from the corral:
94 Mustang Gt Yellow
D.S.S. 331 stroker, Vortech S-Trim supercharger, power pipe, E303cam, Tweecer RT, Power Heads ported heads, Scorpion billet aluminum 1.6 rockers, Typoon intake polished, Proffesional Products 70mm throttle body, Pro M 75mm mass air meter, 130amp alternator, Accel 300+ race ignition,Accel 9mm wires, MSD billet distributor, BBK 1 5/8 headers, Mac 2.5 off road H pipe, Flowmaster cat back system with Borla XR1's, 3.73 gears, FMS aluminum driveshaft, SPEC stage II clutch, 7qt. oil pan, 48 lb fuel injectors, 190lph fuel pump, Msd inline fuel pump, Aeromotive fuel pressure regulator, Cobra 13 inch front brake kit, Maximum Motorsports LCA's, KYB Adjustables in rear and Gr2's up front, Black Magic Fan, Steeda Tri-ax short throw shifter, Cobra R svo scoop hood, FMS polished valve covers, 18 inch chrome wheels w/Nitto 555's and More

If you take it to someone who knows what they are doing, the J4J1 is just as good as the A9L.

But.... good luck finding someone with as much experience tuning the J4J1 as they have on the A9L.
