Dynomax Super Turbo's much better flow than Flowmasters and get a gnarly sound for about $40 a muffler. You can get them at Advance Auto Parts or Autozone

Re: Muffler Suggestions Please

MAC makes nice mufflers... have a similar sound to flowmasters but also flow more and IMO sound better. If you buy their tips, they look nice too. A whole catback from mac is only like 300 bucks too

I have a sound clip if you want to hear what mine sounds like with them on there

Re: Muffler Suggestions Please

i would love sound clips....i heard this mustang today when i was standing out side my aunts and the road is a good 75 - 80 yrds away and i heard it..it was deep toned and i would love mine to be like that....any sounds clips would be better for me to make a decision..

Re: Muffler Suggestions Please

You have a V8 you dont need chambered mufflers to manufacturer artifical sound. I say if you want extra sound get Dynomax Super Turbo's. If you want good flow and sound get Dynomax Ultra Flows, Magnaflows or Borla.

But it is artifical sound created by the chambers and baffles in a muffler. It is OK if it was not for the manufactured sound Flowmaster would be nothing

Dude think about it. Why do stock V6 owners put chambered Mufflers on their otherwise stock stangs. Because they make them sound mean on a otherwise wheezy *** anemic sounding stock motor. So they manufacture sound!!!!

Re: Muffler Suggestions Please

I know they do manufacture sound, but its a good sound... just like any other muffler that makes sound, they just do it in another way. A muffler is a muffler in my opinion... just depends on the owners taste.

No flow thru muffler like Ultraflows, Borla and Magnaflows compliment the natural sound of the engine while offering better flow characteristics

That is a tough one. what are you wanting

GOOD SOUND
GOOD FLOW
BOTH
WHAT ARE YOU WILLING TO SPEND

Baseline is Dynomax SuperTurbo's provide decent flow, way better than flowmasters, at probably the best price on the market. These were on all Roush Cars till 2001

I just dont know enough about Aero Chambers to make a call However they will in design be similar to Chambered mufflers

If you want to step up in price range Dynomax Ultraflows, Magnaflows and Borla are the way to go for the best flow and great sound

If you want really loud and dont mind losing some flow Mac Flowpath, Flowmasters, spintech or any other baffled or chambered muffler

If you want to wake the dead Glass packs or Warlocks!!!!

No it is not. MAC is not in the top 10. It is in the top of Chambered mufflers but not all performance mufflers. All free flowing mufflers outflow chambered mufflers. Here is a chart comparing Dynomax ultra flows and dynomax Super Turbos

5.0 + Flowmasters = Heaven

I don't care how many people have them, or about the 5 hp I could pick up with another muffler. There's a reason so many people put them on their car, and it isn't just because of the name...

I wish I had a sound clip of my car you could hear, but I really don't have any way of recording one.

Flowmasters are actually much quiter than many aftermarket mufflers. If I can find the muffler comparison I'm looking for... I'll prove it. It's not how loud they are, it's how good they sound.

There are only a few louder but there are many that sound good. I personally hate the drone. I had them on my car for 3 days and they had to go!!!!

There is a difference in the car it is installed and interior noise. I will agree the flow is definately not the loudest when measuring outside the car. It is inside the car where Flows blow. The design of the flowmaster creates a drumming effect as it slows down the exhaust charge as it winds thru the chambers. This also allows the sound waves to bounce around and deflect off the chamber walls. This in combination with the construction of the muffler allows the drumming or canning effect of the muffler, giving you the drone inside the car. I have never experienced this more than with Flowmasters. They set the standard for droning. Period

I see that HP chart and it is major hosed. The Magnaflows and Dynomax are of identical construction and have identical numbers. The borla does not flow quite as well as either the Magnaflow or Ultraflow. The warlock only flows better when in the open exhaust mode closed it is well in the middle of the pack.

5.0s with no cats and a cam drone, my v6 never had a drone issue, but I did have cats.

Do you care if it is a little loud, or is loud okay as long as it sounds good?

Either way, I'd recommend finding some sound clips of the mufflers you're looking at. Check out Mustang Exhaust for some sound clips (you have click forums first, and then they have an entire sub-forum dedicated to sound clips).
