He really needs to take it somewhere to have it tuned on a dyno. That's the only way he'll really get a decent tune out of it.

If you'll tell us the general area of where he lives, we may be able to direct you to a tuner.

we live in Lexington, VA...which is around nothing, we just had a dyno open up around here, but i doubt anywhere local that can tune it.....but is there any companies in NC/MD/VA that can do it? I'm sure he doens't mind bringingin it somewhere and driving a lil bit...

I'm sure there are. I don't know of any personally, but maybe someone else will chime in.

Re: HELP! Tuning 347 gt 5.0??

so you are telling me there is no place on the net where i can just buy a chip for 30lb or 42lb injecoters for this car? There has to be something out there. Is there any tuning shops online or webistes i can contact?

I'm going to add a list he gave to me as well

GT Ecu
347 Stroker
224/232 Duration, 555/565 Lift
Trick Flow Track heat heads
Trick Flow Track Heat Inakes.

Of course he could just put a carb on it...which would be better? I assume if he can't get a tune for this car, he will put a carb. on it..

Re: HELP! Tuning 347 gt 5.0??

With modifications that extensive, he will need a custom dyno tune with wideband O2 sensors to get the correct air/fuel ratio.

You can get it to run with the stock ECU, but getting it to run efficiently is a whole other issue. First of all, is he running 30# or 42# injectors? With that combo 30# injectors should be plenty. With 42# injectors, he'll have a hard time getting it do anything but run rich, even if he turns the fuel pressure down with an adjustable fuel pressure regulator (which he should also have). I also assume he has a mass air meter that is calibrated for whichever injector size he has? If not... there's the problem right there.

Also, what exactly do you mean by not running well? Is it missing, dies at idle, just isn't making power???

Re: HELP! Tuning 347 gt 5.0??

Bbunt302 is right! The car will need to be tuned with a wideband by someone knowledgable and def. make sure the air meter is calibrated to the injectors! The stock ecu is not capable of running well w/ those mods! Also be sure to check all your vacuum lines for leaks! Prob. not the issue but I've seen it before! The car may not run well but it should still RUN! This is the best advise I can give you!
