quick! five lug conversion specialist?

79-93 Mustang SN95 Front 5 lug conversion

alright. well i have a five lug conversion on my 50.. and they did the "junk yard conversion" which is lincoln hubs and ranger drums.. ok now my dilema is the lincoln conversion the hubb is wayyyy to big! i cant use any oem wheel example the bullits or even cobra r's.. it fits my speed stars but the only thing is the center cap wont stay on.. (hubs too large) now i kinda want bullits on the 50, so i was wondering should i go and buy this? and what else should i be looking for? i mean i have a complete conversion on my car already will buying these hubs just simply solve my problem?

Re: quick! five lug conversion specialist?

No idea if you've known about this site, but from rotors to master cylinders, it's the best site on the net for 5-bolt swap answers: Mustang Brake Conversion SN95Brakes.com

The stuff you've posted is from a 1994/1995, so you're safe to use any wheels (OEM or aftermarket) that'll fit a 1994-2004 Mustang, and it doesn't seem like too bad of price I suppose..... as long as the wheels are no more than 9" wide, you won't have to worry about clearance issues. Because the Bullitts are 8" wide, you'll fine and shouldn't have to worry about any rubbing issues.

If the spindles were from a 1996 and newer, they would increase your track width and your wheels would stick out a bit unless you used 2005+ Stang wheels - their backspacing is a little less, so they would offset the increased track width.

As for things you may need.... you might have to look into buying 1994+ brake lines, but don't quote me 100% on that. I'm not familiar with the Lincoln stuff, so you might have long enough lines already.

Re: quick! five lug conversion specialist?

The rim selection with the cheaper method of only swapping to Lincoln rotors on the front is very limited.

To use the newer model factory Ford rims, you'll need to go with the 94/95 spindles set-up. You'll need spindles, calipers, rotors, brake lines, and either a spacer (look at the site posted above for more info on that) or have 94/95 balljoints pressed into your A-arms. The balljoints is the route I went and the route that I'd recommend. It's not all that hard to drop the A-arms, although lining them back up can sometimes be a real *****. You'll just need two jacks and two people.

Also note that this is a good time to upgrade your front brakes to either the 99-04 PBRs (what I went with) or any of the bigger Cobra brakes (what I will eventually have ).

Re: quick! five lug conversion specialist?

I would definetly go with some 94-95 ball joints, spindles, calipers, and rotor. if expense is a concern then you can wait on the brakes and just use the 94-95 brakes from a junkyard car, thats what I did on mine, I plan on upgrading to the big brakes once I go 331

Re: quick! five lug conversion specialist?

In my set-up on my 1992 GT I went against the grain, somewhat. I used 2002 PBR brakes and spindles on the front, 2002 discs and PBR calipers on the rear with 94-95 axles. I got all the 2002 stuff from a guy for $300.00. Though they are the same as a V8 car, they originally came from a V6 2002. Then we swapped the 13" Cobra drilled disc/caliper in front and just went with the drilled discs on the rear.

I have 95 Cobra R knock-offs on it now, but my Bullitts off my 2002 GT fit the front and look good.
